The Ministry of Taxes of the Republic of Azerbaijan remains committed to continuous improvement of the existing tax system by scrutinizing international best practices and development of more efficient, equitable and proactive tax system.
Within the framework of the Strategic Plan for the Development of Tax System for the 2013-2020 years, the Ministry hosted another TAIEX Expert Mission on the topic of “Establishment of an Independent Institute for Taxpayers’ Rights Protection”. The event was held on 13-14 June, 2016 in Baku, Azerbaijan with Ms. Elsa Henriques Dias from the Portuguese Ombudsman acting as an expert for the event.
The aim of the Expert Mission was to examine the experience of the EU member states in protection of the taxpayers’ rights, namely Tax Ombudsmans’ activity.
The Seminar was attended by numerous representatives of the relevant structures of the Ministry of Taxes, as well as by the representatives of the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan.
