The IOTA Workshop “Taxation of E-Commerce” was held on 24-26 September 2014 in the city of Varna at the Bulgarian Black Seaside.
The workshop provided an opportunity for 46 delegates from 26 IOTA member countries to discuss recent challenges faced by tax administrations as a consequence of the rapidly changing developments in e-commerce. This event focused on an understanding of new e-commerce business models and the tools, techniques and skills required by tax auditors to monitor such activities. The aproblems and tax risks of online anonymity, virtual currencies and obtaining and sharing information were some of the topics discussed.

There will be a series of workshops organised in 2015 where the delegates will get a chance to share experiences and best practices on analytics and tools as well as administrative co-operation and exchange of information in the e-commerce sector.

A special mention and thank you must go to the organising team of the Bulgarian National Revenue Agency for all their hard work in ensuring this was a very successful event.

Full details of the presentations, topics discussed and the comments from the group sessions are available on our website for registered users.
