Armenian and Italian Tax Administrations Signed a Memorandum of Understanding on May 21, 2019 in Yerevan

Mr Paolo Barbantini, Deputy Director General of the Revenue Agency of Italy, and Mr Mikayel Pashayan, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia (SRC) signed the Memorandum of Understanding on technical assistance to be provided to the Armenian Tax Administration within the scope of the OECD Tax Inspectors Without Borders Program.

Armenia and Italy will closely cooperate to improve control in the areas of criminal investigation, aggressive tax planning and transfer pricing. In the coming 18 months, Italian tax experts will be involved in the tax audits and control activities of the Armenian Tax Administration in order to develop proposals for improvement of respective functions. Further reforms will be implemented in the Armenian Tax Administration as a result of the bilateral cooperation program.

During the signing ceremony, Mr Davit Ananyan, Chairman of the SRC, and H.E. Mr Vincenzo Del Monaco, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia, have emphasized the importance of cooperation between tax administrations of the two countries to fight tax evasion and improve voluntary compliance among taxpayers.

The bilateral cooperation program will launch on May 22 along with working discussions to be held between the Italian experts and relevant units of the SRC, as well as other Armenian stakeholder agencies.
